The System - eMaze

     Simplima's innovative Digital Rights Management System, called "eMaze", works for all types of content and all types of platforms. "eMaze" enlarges both markets and revenues for content distributors, providers and resellers by enabling restricted use rental, rather than purchase of digital content.

     eMaze is geared for text, pictures (comics, maps), video and music Digital Rights Management. The model allows content usage, while controlling the usage in accordance with the purchased rights. The user can get content for a limited period of time, with restrictions on the way the content can be used. When any of the user rights expire (such as time limit) the content disappears from the user's device (e.g. a PC, cell phone).

     Simplima's eMaze protects content via a security method that is difficult to break. The emphasis is on cost-effectively minimizing losses and risk through technology. The security is randomized, reducing the benefit of a one-time breakage. Furthermore the security mechanism lends itself to constant changes, introducing an additional level of complexity.

     Example of Implementation

     Within the framework of the content provider/distributor' business model, the user is granted a license for restricted use of the content. The user purchases rights to use the content, rather than buying the content itself. The content that is delivered to the user and is protected by eMaze, ensures that the purchased rights are actually delivered and enforced as set by the provider.

     For example, the user may buy a music clip or a video film for a 5-time use. Alternatively, the user may buy a 2 day time interval to use the content. Similarly, the user may choose to purchase the right to copy the content (assuming the distributor offers such rights). Once the purchased rights are exhausted, the information disappears, from the user's device i.e. automatically deleted. The parameters are set by the content provider and are varied – "time" being only one example.

     As a result, content providers and distributors can merge their management and control systems with suitable and varied pricing schemes, the price can be set according to the usage rights ordered.
Contrary to the very limited pricing structures in use today, eMaze allows for innovative pricing models.
